Descrip by Breandan:

" Unlike the Brutes and Diablos, which require Human or humanoid hosts to spread their numbers, Rippers have managed to evolve male and female versions to create a self-perpetuating population. This makes Rippers the most commonly-encountered bioweapon in known space. Rippers are based off of chimeric DNA, as are all bioweapons, but the base GTCA sequences came from captured Garoudan who had wandered into Capellan space. A recessive gene trait within the ancient Garoudan DNA allowed for spontaneous gender reversal in males of their progenitor species (this trait is not present in modern-day Garoudan) as a method of ensuring a viable breeding population. Due to almost all bioweapons produced by the Capellans being male, this trait somehow managed to surface within the GELFs and create a number of female Rippers. A stable breeding population was soon established, and they spread like wildfire.
Fortunately, while Rippers are very fast and agile, they are among the weakest and least-durable of the bioweapons (Str: 20, End: 19), making eradication sweeps a viable method of controlling their population. Semi-sentient, Rippers might have been considered for protected Developing Sentient Species status were it not for their insatiable thirst for Human flesh. The Capellans, in order to ensure that their creations targeted their desired enemies instead of just running off into the woods to hunt wildlife, addicted the Rippers to the specific proteins and hemoglobin in Human tissue and blood. They are, in effect, Human-meat-addicted junkies.
Rippers attack- as the name implies- with their claws, ripping their targets open. Their preferred tactic is to leap up and latch onto their prey with their fangs and claws anchored in the shoulder and neck, and then disembowel them with rakes from the rear claws. Rippers are fast, so fast that only Kyaren and Namaran can match them (Agi 24), making them very hard to hit. They are also pack hunters, so while engaging one group of Rippers the target will be attacked from behind or above by two or more other groups."
